“I Don't Want to Find Food in the Fridge After It's Too Late.”
Q: What do you enjoy most about cooking for your family?
Michael: “I actually really enjoy it. I like planning meals and trying to make something good out of what's already in the kitchen.”
Q: So, what was the frustrating part?
Michael: “Keeping track of everything in the fridge.
I'd buy groceries with every intention of using them, and then a few days would go by. I'd open the fridge and realize there was something sitting in the back that I'd completely forgotten about.
And sometimes I'd find it right after it had expired.”
Q: Did you have a way of keeping track of what needed to be used?
Michael: “Not really. I'd just look in the fridge and try to remember what was in there. It was a lot of guessing.
I'd think, ‘What should I cook tonight?’ without really knowing what needed to be used first.”
Q: What were you looking for?
Michael: “Something simple. I wanted to know what we had, what was about to expire, and what I should use first.
Basically, I wanted my fridge to tell me, ‘Hey, don't forget about this.’”
Q: How do you use Everblog now?
Michael: “When I'm thinking about dinner, I can check Everblog and see what's in the fridge and what's coming up on its expiration date.
It gives me a much better idea of what I should cook first instead of just opening the fridge and hoping for inspiration.”
Q: Has it changed the way you shop?
Michael: “I still buy groceries, of course. But I'm much more likely to use what I already have before buying more.
It's not about buying less. It's about wasting less of what I already bought.”
